walter - well the art budget is actually a whole lot bigger than that it's just that this little trip to the store was just supposed to be to tide me over for the first couple of weeks of school next year - maybe $300 tops. oops.
Art supplies are expensive, it's the reason why artists tend to starve. Have you seen the price for a camel hair paintbrush? I think it's more cost efficient to fly to Saudi Arabia, shave a camel, then make your own brushes.
walter - you're so right they are SO expensive! And it's heartbreaking when the kids don't treat the stuff like it's gold. That's when I turn into mean teacher!
dan - thanks :) I'm so glad I wasn't spending my own money. Imagine the damage I could have done in one HOUR!
I love this site, BTW. I often forget to check it because it's hidden all the way at the bottom of your blog, but I have identified with everything on it.
Hehe. That's me in the hardware store. Like I try and add it up in my head, but somehow at the checkout there's a 300% blowout. How does that happen????
I'm like general_boy. It's the big-box hardware stores that get me the worst. Even the electronics/DVD/CD stores aren't as bad for me as the hardware stores. It's not even the tools that excite me, it's the supplies for projects that I get carried away with. **sigh**
I love your comic strips! They manage to catch what a lot of us are thinking...I too sometimes end up spending good money on stuff I'm not going to use...mostly this is on pretty skirts that I always dream of wearing...but I go home, try them on, and go "this is sooo not me! Can't wear this!" Am hoping there will be a time when I wear all that I buy and buy only what I'll wear (keeping fingers crossed)...good going with the comics though!

Comic Book Girl deserves a budget 3x over that total! Quit being such a Scrooge M!

Yeah, I have to be careful with my spending, too. Every time I see something new, I want it.
I got into the habit of clipping coupons and looking for sales. It's the only way art and rent can exist in the same universe for me. :)

I wonder who I apply to for a cbg budget? mmm

Excellent cartoon M! I myself was into oil painting a few years ago. I went all out, and bought nearly every paint known to man and woman.
And then my hobby wore off. In my basement is about $500 worth of paint, canvasses, you name it. Your cartoon resonated with me!

Does the mean art teacher make the kids eat glue when they misbehave, or are they doing that without any influence?
